Uber Files Court Documents Alleging Drivers are Independent Contractors

This week Uber filed documents in the United States District Court, Northern District of California, in opposition to a class-action lawsuit. In the filing, Uber argues drivers should be labeled as independent contractors rather than employees. A copy of the filing is below.

Last June, the California Labor Commission ruled a specific Uber driver should be considered an employee and not an independent contractor. What happens next is up to the courts.
