"Marsy's Law" and the Angels Rookie Pitcher Nick Adenhart Murder Trial

Each year we represent, in the civil courts, people who are injured or families who have lost a love one because of a crime. We’ve sued criminals for assault, battery, child molestation, rape, and even murder.

In the civil courts, victims of criminal conduct are entitled to sue for damages sustained during the course of a crime. Over the years, we’ve obtained millions of dollars in judgments against convicted criminals who have done terrible, and sometimes unspeakable, things to our clients.

In the criminal courts, things are a bit different. Until recently, the rights of victims in the criminal court system were somewhat compromised. Fortunately, California enacted Marsy’s law which is designed to strengthen the rights of criminal victims.

A friend, and excellent criminal defense attorney, Mike Fell (that’s Mike in the picture), utilized Marsy’s Law to help protect the rights of family victims in the tragic and high profile DUI death case involving Angels rookie pitcher Nick Adenhart and passengers in the car. Mike worked tirelessly to protect the victims’ rights and we’re happy to say resulted in the defendant drunk driver being sentenced to 51 years to life in prison for his inexcusable and illegal conduct.
